Just heard this #Newyorker Radio Hour episode interviewing #AdamGopnik who shares a deep dive into the rise of Hitler and parallels with the US politics today. Good to hear some informed analysis and plain talk on that topic.
Speaking of Dr. Johnson, I'd say that #ChristopherHitchens (at https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2009/03/demons-and-dictionaries/307272/ ) gets the better of #AdamGopnik (at https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2008/12/08/man-of-fetters ) regarding the Balderston thesis. While even the most outwardly conventional man may have unusual sexual desires, Mrs. Thrale would not have written down anything that suggested her own involvement.
