@cwebber beyond me why people are still at #bluesky. It's the trap of tHIs tiME WilL be dIFFerEnT, I guess.
#ATProto is NOT an open API. Any parallel implementation still has to go through bluesky's servers.
They are still owned by #DTBO vulture capitalist cryptobro techbro billionaires, who have stated they will sell your data and info to LLM predatory enterprises.
Baffling, really.
Meanwhile, #AcitivityPub remains simple, #FOSS, inexpensive, truly decentralized.
Go figure.

Are there any conventions on posting (book) reviews in the #fediverse?

Ooof
Reading this thread, I cannot help but think there's a gulf developing (or that has developed) between #AcitivityPub and old-school #fediverse peeps and most of the developers looking to do things on the fediverse.
I'm no fan of #mastodon 's dominance, but standardising a microblogging API around the foundation laid by mastodon and adopted (it seems) by many makes a lot of sense.
The "gulf" seems to be whether AP is "everything" or a "starting point"

Is there anyone working on *generalizing* the Mastodon API, or documentation to follow for apps that are using it for things *other* then Mastodon? #fedidev #mastodev #mastodonapi #APIdev
Follow-up: #Gitlab released version 16.5 two days ago.
Edit: #AcitivityPub support is in the works. This means it will be possible to follow e.g. user activity or project releases with your #Fediverse account.
Thank you @kik for the clarification!
See the previous post in this thread and @kik's post below for more details and links on the extent of Github's AcitivityPub support.

I wonder which will be the next big platform to launch #AcitivityPub support?
#Flickr? #Tumblr? #Meta / #Instagram?
If Tumblr releases their fediverse support, that's a lot of users and content.
Flickr will also add a lot of photo/image content.
Instagram… it will add a lot of photo/image content and users from a lot of countries who are into #AsianPop like #Jpop and #Kpop, as well as, #AsianDrama like #Kdrama, #Jdrama, and #Cdrama. Why? #Fandoms and East Asian celebrities are using Instagram big time more than they use #Twitter or #Facebook.
