July is #DisabilityPrideMonth — and it’s more than awareness. It’s a celebration of disabled joy, resistance, and intersectional liberation. 💪♿🏳️‍🌈

Why you should register with the disability office

Every student, including graduate students, should register with their disability office. It may take a long time to register and it may be painful, but you should still do it. If you run into problems later, if something changes in your life, if someone

Google forms that automatically email you a copy of the answers you just submitted = ADHD-friendly. My brain is ten steps ahead in multiple directions and no, I have no idea what I just entered in that damn form 2 min ago.

Accommodations are hardly ever the solution. For a disabled person to be granted accommodations, we have to jump through numerous hoops, and there is no guarantee they will be granted (it's hardly ever a doctor deciding-it's an institution). Access is not (only) using alt text. Access is considering the barriers in place for disabled folks and removing as many of them as possible. It's using plain language, it's color contrast, it's knowing that access needs can sometimes conflict. Access is a moving target but it's worth moving for.

Boosts appreciated:
Anyone else experience #AdobeAcrobat crashing repeatedly when trying to do #accessibility tags on PDFs? It’s incredibly frustrating and exhausting.
Would LOVE if anyone has recommended tools for doing this better because this sucks.
