ReproductiveRights.Gov Vanished, So We Brought It Back

The day after President Donald Trump began his second term, people noticed that they could no longer access a .gov web page outlining women's rights to abortion and contraception under US law.

#Meta is apparently blocking posts and accounts mentioning abortion pills. I really, really hope that EU makes a push and bans Meta here if they don't comply. Could be a great chance to develop our own social media platforms, perhaps even using #ActivityPub and become the herald of open social media. #Fediverse

It seems to me that if this did not involve pregnancy, and the local hospital docs stated they could do nothing... why wasn't she immediately taken by "flight-for-life" helicopter to a facility that could render standard-of-care care?! 🤷‍♂️

And yes this does mean transportation across state lines. That is a non-issue as far as I'm concerned.

It's 2024 people!!

There is no way to justify letting a woman die like this... of common, predictable complications of pregnancy. 😠

“They Had to Wait Until There Was No Heartbeat.”

It’s cases like these that had changed my mind about anti-abortion laws.

A Woman Died After Being Told It Would Be a “Crime” to Intervene in Her Miscarriage at a Texas Hospital

Josseli Barnica is one of at least two pregnant Texas women who died after doctors delayed emergency care. She’d told her husband that the medical team said it couldn’t act until the fetal heartbeat stopped.

As a husband and father who lost a son and who nearly watched his wife die due to a condition directly related to women's health, Michelle Obama's speech yesterday really hit me. My wife and I have discussed this a few times, that today, we're not sure she'd have gotten the medical treatment she got that saved her life and led to our son's death 18 years ago.

I love and miss my son every day. I would not be here today if I had lost my wife.

Choose women.

Judge McBurney writes:

"While the State’s interest in protecting “unborn” life is compelling, until that life can be sustained by the State -- and not solely by the woman compelled by the Act to do the State’s work -- the balance of rights favors the woman.

Women are not some piece of collectively owned community property the disposition of which is decided by majority vote . . . "

The Incredible Ruling Striking Down Georgia's Anti-Choice Law

Fulton County Judge Robert McBurney just struck down the Georgia LIFE Act, which makes abortion after six weeks a felony. The filing is a stinging rebuke of the anti-choice law.

The Breakdown

It's finally happening. We are just starting to hear about the preventable pregnancy deaths that have occurred due to the Supreme Court overturning Roe V Wade.

"A major reason for the increase [in US abortions] is that some Democratic-controlled states enacted laws to protect doctors who use telemedicine to see patients in places that have abortion bans, according to the quarterly #WeCount report for the Society of Family Planning, which supports abortion access."
