I FELT like I made progress on #AardwolfSocial today but then I tried to refactor some things and completely destroyed progress...

I am not even sure anything I am doing is *the right way to do it*...

tempted to make a Revolt server for #AardwolfSocial but that also sounds like a lot of work for minimal benefit.

With the launch of #Veilid I have been a touch more vocal about #AardwolfSocial (which aims to bring a user-privacy focused Facebook experience to open source).

Cutting to the chase, I would appreciate community input on where I should be putting my energy.

Should I:

  • Keep pushing code?
  • Clean up and refactor the, now legacy, documentation?
  • Clean up, and write more GitHub Issues for folks to work on?
  • Something else?

When you look at the repo what are you expecting to see?

Greetings Everyone! -- Introductions Time

I am Banjo, core developer, and lead architect for Aardwolf-Social. By day I am a security engineer/vulnerability management lead.

The rest of the time I do a LOT of shitposting (usually uncensored), graphic design work, and contribute to other FOSS Projects including Veilid, an OpenSourceStudio (OSStudio).

Please have a profile picture and more than a few posts before sending a follow request.

My main project, Aardwolf-Social aims to be a familiar, and user-friendly, secure alternative to Facebook. If your non-technical friends, and family aren't able to figure it out, then I haven't done my job. It is a work-in-progress (started 3+ years ago), but we welcome developers of all skill level! :D

P.s. YES we are going to be switching from ActivityPub to Veilid as the networking component as it becomes feasible to do so ;)

Aardwolf | Powering social, connected communities

Aardwolf is a social platform powering connected communities

@thegibson Well fuck me...

That is DEFINITELY something we can integrate with #AardwolfSocial

Just added the ybc crate for use with #BulmaCSS. The code looks ~fairly~ clean which I like, AND I am able to work in HTML with External .scss files which is awesome (except now I gotta learn SASS lol).

I have the YBC demo page working, and feel good about everything so far. The #YewFramework tutorial has been instrumental in getting me -motivated- but uses a bunch of crates I disagree with. Going to keep rolling with it though.

Ideally I want to get to the templating stage before end of July. That way we can start trying to integrate the backend.

As always if you know #Rust / #RustLang, #Yew / #YewFramework or just want to get involved with #AardwolfSocial let me know.

I need to make a post related to #AardwolfSocial architecture decision-making but it is really hard to brain right now...

@thegibson

So should I wait for the August unveiling of #Veilid or can you brief me about how it would work with #AardwolfSocial?

How can I support the development of #AardwolfSocial?
https://github.com/Aardwolf-Social/aardwolf
#Aardwolf was described to me as an #ActivityPub backend with various interchangeable modular front-ends to support different forms of interactions, from #microblogging to longform #blogging, to media viewing/sharing to event planning.

I think the major dev contributors, @asonix, @kd0bpv, or @banjofox might be able to suggest some ways to help? 😄
