Here it is Thursday already and All Things Open 2025 closed its doors on Tuesday. I spent all three days there and once again had an amazing experience. Although attendance from outside the U.S. was quite low, the Raleigh Convention Center was still crowded. I reconnected with some old friends, made some new ones, and, sadly, missed some I'd hoped…

I really liked that point. It's a good reminder that losing openess to change is a warning sign.

The weirdest thing though is that I didn't get any vendor t-shirts. But I got two baseball caps. That might count as wearable conference swag, right? 😄
Watching a great panel about workforce preparation and capacity for the state of North Carolina. Lots of interesting discussions I haven't thought about internet access in the rural areas, late adopters and how to better prepare the people who are going to step up to the workforce soon, either in tech or otherwise.

Well that was fun--my laptop's M.2 drive coughed up a hairball something like thirty minutes into my (storage!) talk at #ato2025 .
The laptop immediately hard rebooted, and I delivered the last fifteenish minutes of my talk blind, with "journal recovery aborted" ext4 errors infinitely scrolling across the big screen beside me.
That definitely felt like one for the scrapbook! 😅
