I think it's the big oak table that stays. And I'm going to get some boards to help make it a bit more sturdy (many moves, etc have made it a smidge wobbly at the edges but I know how to fix that - it won't be pretty but it'll work and be cheap).

I am also debating a cutting table extension for it: a piece of plywood set on top and screwed in that sticks out the one edge by a foot or so (and uses the legs from the IKEA table as support). But that's a stretch goal.

The big decision now:

Do I keep the large oak table in there which is great because it's big SOLID oak and handmade?

Downside: made by my father which - ew. BUT I can overlook that tbh. The bigger issue is just that it's v. Large. Which is a pro and con.

The other table option is an IKEA table. It's thinner but I think a bit longer, which might be nice? It would be easier to store when taken down which I think is THE deciding factor here.

It went pretty well!! Things have been moved into totes which make moving stuff around SO much easier.

After looking at the space in the room and considering that in a few months kiddo will be back in uni mostly full time we've decided to keep the one table for sewing in that room. Because they'll be gone all day so I can sew while they're out.

Still loads of space to install the new shelves. So phase 2 will be:

* take down one table
* set up shelves
* done???

Today is the first installment of The Great Unfuckening Part 2.

Hopefully 1-2 hrs will see most of the stuff corralled into one of the 10 beautiful new totes I have purchased (don't wanna talk about it lol). Which will let us organise the shelves better.

I know I'll be able to visualize the space a lot better when things are in totes. It's less chaos of all the separate things so it doesn't overload my brain.

The other major component of this project will be relocating some storage from our bedroom to other places, so that the bedroom can store more of my current hobbies (paint and sketch stuff as well as fibre arts project bags)

My brain functions best with bins/totes for stuff. Corralling the chaos into containers is a huge win to me.

My sewing stuff will relocate downstairs, and I will set up the folding table in the living room when I want to do a project. It's far from ideal, but it's better than what I have now.

With better storage my hope is we'll all breathe a little easier. In previous editions of the Unfuckening any time we've invested some $$ into proper solutions it's paid out well. I'm hopeful this will be the same.

Have ordered two more shelves and some more totes from my local hardware store.

The Great Unfuckening Part 2 shall commence. Current goal/thoughts is to corral the various craft things from kiddo's room into totes which are then stored on shelves.

Originally I wanted to keep my sewing stuff set up in that room but I am feeling like that is not practical, actually. So rather than large craft tables, their room will have shelves.

Slowly bringing the house back to order after the chaos of the holidays and kiddo's quick return home.

My living room is almost entirely restored and I'm over the moon about it. There's just one couch that we have always struggled with becoming the "place for stuff" that needs to be emptied and then things will be entirely sorted. (at least as much as we can with our current space + amount of stuff)

Hubby's just taken a big bag of my clothes off to the dono bin. They still fit and are in good condition... but I just don't wear them. So they're just taking up space in the house for no purpose.

Hoping they will bless some other fabulous fat femme with some high quality cheap clothes.

And this moves me more towards my personal goals of style and homemade clothing.

We're kinda needing to speedrun going through boxes as kiddo is coming home two months earlier than planned.

My ADHD is living her best life right now lmao. Pressure! Deadlines! Something to distract me from holiday sadness!!!

Our closet is 3 sections plus the top shelf. I fully sorted one entire section today lol. MY biggest accomplishment is one large box that I thought would be difficult was quite easy to sort and that made a big difference.
