Wrapping Up The Last of My 2025 Conference Presentations | Snurblog — Axel Bruns

2025 is finally over, but other than as part of the liveblogs I haven't yet had a chance to round

Sadly, not in time for #aoir2025, but I have an article out in Communication Theory proposing a model of practices in digital publics. Computational social scientists and other scholars in the field of internet studies often use the term 'practice,' but this idea is not sufficiently operationalised. I define practices as things we do for a reason with specific others, driven by certain knowledge, values, and supported and constrained by language and material environments. https://doi.org/10.1093/ct/qtaf026
Ok yeah, definitely not in Rio for #AoIR2025 any more. Helloooo Bremen, and helloooo #ZeMKI2025...
Finally at home with time to drink coffee in the garden with Viola (our dog) while updating websites, emails, contacts, works... post #aoir2025 #copyleft

In all the excitement of #AoIR2025 I forgot to mention one of the coolest bits: I met one of the #friendsofdesoto who inquired if I got that bump from my P1.

I think @AoIR and @cscw should do a joint conference and just see what happens.

After #Aoir2025, we received Janna Joceli Omena (King’s College London) and Richard Rogers (University of Amsterdam) at School of Communications and Arts (ECA-USP, São Paulo) for an event organized by the Smart Media & Users group. My colleague Alan Angeluci (ECA-USP), group coordinator, introduced them and then will launch the Portuguese version of "Digital Methods" by Rogers, called in Portuguese "Fazendo Métodos Digitais," translated by Alan
Thanks again Rio, it’s been real. And thanks for holding off the weather change until after the #AoIR2025 conference too – we got very lucky there.
