Met een voorliefde voor experiment en vernieuwing presenteert het Plein Theater Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam. Gloednieuwe composities van toonaangevende musici vormen de ingrediënten van deze concertserie voor hedendaagse muziek.

Ensemble SCALA is een Nederlands ensemble dat zich specialiseert in microtonale muziek: muziek die gebruikmaakt van meer tonen dan de gebruikelijke twaalf tonen per octaaf. Het ensemble werd in 2010 opgericht door de Huygens-Fokker Stichting en verkent de rijke klankwereld van alternatieve stemmingssystemen, met bijzondere aandacht voor het 31-toonssysteem van het beroemde Fokker-orgel.

Tijdens dit concert wordt Ensemble SCALA vertegenwoordigd door drie van zijn musici: Stefan Gerritsen (microtonale gitaar), Anne Veinberg (96-toons piano/toetsen) en Ere Lievonen (31-toons orgel). Samen nemen zij het publiek mee op een ontdekkingsreis langs verrassende klankkleuren, nieuwe harmonieën en de fascinerende mogelijkheden van microtonaliteit.

With a love for experiment and innovation, Plein Theater presents Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam. Brand-new compositions by leading musicians form the core of this concert series dedicated to contemporary music.

Ensemble SCALA is a Dutch ensemble specializing in microtonal music—music that uses more pitches than the conventional twelve tones per octave. Founded in 2010 by the Huygens-Fokker Foundation, the ensemble explores the rich sonic world of alternative tuning systems, with a particular focus on the 31-tone system of the renowned Fokker organ.

For this concert, Ensemble SCALA is represented by three of its musicians: Stefan Gerritsen (microtonal guitar), Anne Veinberg (96-tone piano/keyboards), and Ere Lievonen (31-tone organ). Together, they take the audience on a journey through surprising timbres, new harmonic landscapes, and the fascinating possibilities of microtonality.

School Without Masters - Growing Anarchist Communities

Every Sunday, 18:00 - 20:00, we meet up and's talk about the various topics we wanna talk, learn and develop awareness about. Right now, we're meeting at Joe's, a squatted location. 

The doors open at 17:30 and we start at 18:00.

Today we're talking about growing anarchist communities. How can we squeeze our way out under the jackboot of capitalism? How can we build something that won't be co-opted or reintegrated into capitalism? Can we build a stable alternative economy, perhaps break out of the incentive structures of labor and legal systems to build out own safety nets and healthy lives?

School Without Masters is an anarchist initiative to learn horizontally. None of us are the teachers or experts, we are all teaching each other. We currently hold our events in Joe's Garage, a squatted place.
