Carl S. GutekunstLaughing Monk's Redwood Ale is a classic American Amber, maltier than most in both the nose and taste, very little bitterness, on the sweet side, with a hint of pine from the Citra and Palisades hops. Very smooth all the way through to the finish. A good contender against my category favorite, Boont Amber, which is noticeably more hoppy. I'm anxious to try this one on tap.
This weeks pours. I didn't notice until after lining them up that I have three in the red/amber category. So be it.
Bourbon Vanilla Porter - Acorn - 4.5% ABV. B++, Fest Ale. Rich, roasty, malty with Coffee and Chocolate. Burnt notes and Bitterness in the finish #ale #beer #bier
