I lost my dad Aug 13 (#lightpollution #ALAN tweeps, yes, last day of #ALAN2023).
It's been a really hard 6 yrs, 2 mos, & 1 wk of #eldercare (not counting current Death Paperwork--don't get me started).
May your journey with your loved ones be easier than mine.

@stfn @BobReflected @Blort Thanks for sharing this! Yes, greenhouses are a huge problem.

I saw some beautiful work from @remiboucher at the recent #ALAN2023 conference showing how greenhouses can be brighter than an entire city when seen from space. Fortunately, Remi also showed ways this can be improved with great results. 🙂

@skyglowberlin you mentioned at #ALAN2023 that you worked on a file with ~200 dark sky places’ areas that you gave to Ruskin. Are you also waiting on them before turning ON this layer on lightpollutionmap.info?

@sundogplanets @bobjonkman All of those sound like great options! I fear the market may be a little niche, but I'm definitely game. 😂

Great to see a fellow #ALAN2023 Sam too! 🙂

@remiboucher Thank you, Remi. Great to be here!

I really enjoyed your talk about greenhouses at #ALAN2023. A shame I didn’t manage to bump into you for a chat. Good luck with all of the work you're doing with mitigation though. Looks some promising initial results. 🙂

Anyone else who went to #ALAN2023 still have jetlag? You'd think I'd have trouble with mornings, but it's the afternoons that are somehow the hardest for me... 🥱
Stuck in Chicagoland due to bad weather so of course I am on mastodon and posting about #ALAN2023. It was amazing to see a few friends and so many esteemed researchers there. I was fan girling pretty hard. @remiboucher @JohnBarentine
@remiboucher @nlskies @SaraBPritchard Here is a pic of some low CCT sources and a 2200K "warm white" source from my #ALAN2023 demo (all LED). From left to right: 2200K, 2000K, 1900K with less than 2% blue per P500, 1800K, and DE amber (does not have a CCT). Note they looked less saturated in person - there was a lot of daylight in the room but electric lighting was turned off.

Lovely drive home! I noticed lots of terrible lighting practices on the way through Regina+suburbs that I'm now much more aware of, and then said a big "HELLO I LOVE YOU" to the Milky Way when I got out of my car under my beautiful dark skies that I appreciate even more after the #ALAN2023 conference.

(I also sent some quiet hate to a couple of satellites, but tried to focus on the beautiful Milky Way behind them)

I'm curious #lightpollution #ALAN "tweeps" (what's the new term, folx? meeps?):
Do you think the defn of "blue light" (in nm*) is (still) contested?
