There's so much going on right now...I have been basically working full out to follow up on so many stories.

But you won't believe this one...I have seen hardly any coverage of this...

While they have been bending over backwards for these massive data centres, the Town of Olds actually shut off water to some residents in town who were opposed to new "smart" meters they've been installing.

Those residents went to court and the judge ordered them to turn the water back on until the issue is resolved.

What is even happening here?

Yikes.

Olds Water Meter Dispute Continues Court Orders Re-connection

OLDS, AB - An application for a Judicial Review between a group of Olds residents and the Town of Olds over the mandatory smart water meter Program is continuing to move through the courts, with new developments followin...

He claimed it wasn’t a project, even though the province has a page for it on their website calling it a “major project.”

He criticized the news release as premature, even though he posted proudly about it on his LinkedIn, calling it a “validation” of the government’s data centre strategy.

And he said there were no financial incentives being offered, even though the government promised 0% data centre tax levied on projects that bring their own power (which is the majority) compared to the small number of data centres connecting to the grid who have to pay the government levy.

The minister gave a performance like no other at a recent town hall in Olds.

I obtained a recording of the meeting and reported on it in my recent article for The Mix!

A massive AI data centre and a power plant to run it across the street from people’s homes in rural Alberta - no need for an environmental impact assessment says the province.

The utilities regulator rejected the application for “significant deficiencies” but Alberta Environment & Protected Areas thought it was just fine to exempt it from a comprehensive review.

Those decisions came three days apart.

This is the new reality for Olds, Alberta.

I imagine the UK is getting ripped off to a similar degree as well, as is any government foolish enough to indulge these peado-grifters.

My newest article is out now!

A $10 billion AI data centre and 1.4 GW gas-powered plant inside the town of Olds boundaries does not require an environmental impact assessment, according to Alberta’s environmental regulator.

An official told Olds town council they are “really trying to understand all of the nuances associated with this particular sector,” but scrapping the assessment was based on how well they understand the gas plant???

“I’m a bit of an old dog, so I don’t know what this AI stuff is really all about. I just want to go and play hockey,” he confessed.

Alberta Waives Review For Massive Data Centre While ‘Old Dog’ Official Admits Knowledge Gap

A 1.4-gigawatt, gas-powered artificial intelligence (AI) data centre proposed for Olds, Alberta will bypass a formal environmental impact assessment (EIA), even as officials confess data centres are a new and unfamiliar sector.

The Energy Mix

I spent a full day at the Calgary Petroleum Club listening to presentations about the alliances between the energy sector and Alberta’s AI data centre strategy.

One of the presentations was from an insider working on the Wonder Valley project.

“It was this beautiful sky. And as we’re flying over, literally, there’s deer and moose and Travis is looking at me like, wow, everyone’s showing up today and you can see that they fell in love with this. We landed, they got off that helicopter. And then it was a call to Kevin. It was like, we found it. And from that it’s been full go.”

I’ve got the inside story in my latest post.
