"AI doomerism" und AGI-Horrorgeschichten lenken von der berechtigten und dringend notwendigen Kritik am aktuellen AI-Hype ab. AI-Startups verwenden die Horrorgeschichten paradoxerweise sogar als Werbung. Man muss also höllisch aufpassen, welcher Kritik man sich anschließt.

Sehr gut auseinanderklamüsert bekommen das @emilymbender und @alex in ihrem extrem wichtigen Buch The AI Con, von dem es leider noch keine deutsche Übersetzung gibt.

Im Deutschen empfehle ich das exzellente schmale Reclambändchen von @RainerMuehlhoff: Künstliche Intelligenz und der neue Faschismus.

Bounty: has Hank Green ever platformed a non-white male, or has gushed over a non-white male in the tech/AI space who speaks about material harms caused by AI that's not "AI will become a god one day!"

Whatever we may feel about AI and its longterm usefulness, we can agree that #Anthropic and #OpenAI's regulatory capture strategy to kill #OpenSource doesn't benefit anyone but these companies.

We don't need another telecommunications style monopoly. We don't want OpenAI to become the Comcast of AI.

Why, then, is Hank Green pushing #AIDoomerism to his largely #Liberal audience?

I agree. And I think Hank Green would agree if he took a closer look at #AIdoomerism and the people and orgs he platformed in his last two videos on #AI.
