Il Tempo: Allarme dell'Onu: nel 2025 la Terra ha accumulato calore record

Roma, 23 mar. (askanews) - Il calore intrappolato dalla Terra ha raggiunto livelli record nel 2025 e si teme che le conseguenze di questo riscaldamento possano durare migliaia di anni. È l'allarme lanciato dall'Onu presentando a Ginevra i dati dell'ultimo rapporto dell'Organizzazione Meteorologica Mondiale sullo stato del clima globale.
Il Segretario generale delle Nazioni Unite Antonio Guterres ha parlato di "emergenza". "Il Pianeta Terra viene spinto oltre i suoi limiti. Tutti gli indicatori climatici chiave lampeggiano in rosso. Questo è il messaggio chiaro dell'ultimo rapporto dove si conferma che lo squilibrio energetico della Terra, ovvero il divario tra il calore assorbito e quello rilasciato, è il più alto mai registrato. In altre parole, il nostro Pianeta intrappola il calore più velocemente di quanto riesca a disperderlo".
"Gli 11 anni più caldi mai registrati sono stati tutti tra il 2015 e il 2025" ha confermato Ko Barrett, vicesegretaria generale dell'Organizzazione Meteorologica Mondiale.
Secondo l'Agenzia, il 2025 è stato il secondo o il terzo anno più caldo mai registrato, con circa 1,43 gradi Celsius in più rispetto alla media del periodo 1850-1900. Scioglimento dei ghiacci, riscaldamento degli oceani, innalzamento del livello del mare, siccità e fenomeni estremi: eventi e numeri che preoccupano ancora di più nel contesto di oggi, ha spiegato Guterres:
"E sull'orlo della guerra, lo stress climatico sta svelando anche un'altra verità. La nostra dipendenza dai combustibili fossili sta destabilizzando sia il clima sia la sicurezza globale. Ora più che mai dobbiamo accelerare sulla giusta transizione verso le energie rinnovabili. Le energie rinnovabili garantiscono sicurezza climatica, sicurezza energetica e sicurezza nazionale".
E ha concluso con un invito a fare presto: "Il rapporto odierno dovrebbe essere corredato da un'etichetta di avvertenza. Il caos climatico sta accelerando e i ritardi sono mortali. La strada da percorrere deve essere fondata sulla scienza, sul buon senso e sul coraggio di agire".

Rome, March 23 (askanews) - The heat trapped by the Earth has reached record levels in 2025 and it is feared that the consequences of this warming could last for thousands of years. This is the alarm sounded by the UN presenting data from the World Meteorological Organization’s latest report on the state of the global climate in Geneva.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres spoke of an “emergency.” “The planet Earth is being pushed beyond its limits. All key climate indicators are flashing red. This is the clear message of the latest report, which confirms that the Earth’s energy imbalance – the gap between heat absorbed and heat released – is the highest ever recorded. In other words, our planet traps heat faster than it can dissipate it.”

“The 11 hottest years ever recorded have all been between 2015 and 2025” confirmed Ko Barrett, Deputy Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization.

According to the Agency, 2025 was the second or third warmest year ever recorded, with approximately 1.43 degrees Celsius more than the average of the 1850-1900 period. Melting of glaciers, warming of the oceans, rising sea levels, droughts and extreme weather events: events and numbers that worry even more in today’s context, explained Guterres:

“And on the verge of war, climate stress is also revealing another truth. Our dependence on fossil fuels is destabilizing both the climate and global security. More than ever, we must accelerate towards the right transition to renewable energies. Renewable energies guarantee climate security, energy security and national security.”

And he concluded with a call to act quickly: “Today’s report should be accompanied by a warning label. Climate chaos is accelerating and delays are deadly. The path to be taken must be based on science, common sense and the courage to act.”
