The US needs to revive #civics education. We must do all we can to help the rising generation of Americans understand the right to vote, the right to due process, the right to freedom of expression and peaceful protest, the role of Congress and the courts, the separation of church and state, and many other topics essential to basic citizenship.
But the idea of turning civics education over to a coalition led by the America First Policy Institute (#AFPI, which wants to repeal civil-service protections for federal employees), Turning Point USA (#TPUSA, the #CharlieKirk organization), and #HillsdaleCollege (which refuses federal funding in order to practice sex discrimination without violating Title IX) is a stomach-turning aggravation of the problem.

President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Keith Kellogg, a highly decorated retired three-star general, to serve as his special envoy for Ukraine and Russia. Kellogg has long been Trump’s top adviser on defense issues, and he served as national security adviser to former Vice President Mike Pence. President-elect Donald Trump says he will nominate former White House aide Brooke Rollins to be his agriculture secretary. Rollins, who heads the Trump-allies America First Policy Institute, was the director of his office of American innovation in his first term. The nomination must be confirmed by the Senate, which will be controlled by Republicans when Trump takes office Jan. 20. Rollins would succeed Tom Vilsack, President Joe Biden’s agriculture secretary who oversees the sprawling agency that controls policies, regulations and aid programs related to farming, forestry, ranching, food quality and nutrition. Rollins is the last of Trump's picks to lead executive agencies and another choice from within his established circle of advisers and allies.
