It’s the little things… like waking your partner up at 1am after MONTHS of waiting just to watch a dinosaur documentary series together ❤️

This comic is an homage to all the quirky folx out there who love sharing their special interest with their special someone(s), and to the partners that nurture our souls. Y’all make the world a happier place 😊

Well, YOU aren’t the doctor, are you?

If you’ve ever wondered if healthcare could be any worse in this country, well, it can.

While the majority of doctors in the U.S. are already unqualified to provide true medical care, some of them also have god complexes. Forgoing the care of their patient, these self-appointed gods care only for themselves and the satisfaction of exerting power and control over their patients. I guess the power to save lives often comes at the cost of one’s soul.

Oh but don’t worry, you can just file a complaint with the DOH or something, and they’ll lose their license for sure, right? Nope. Sorry. Most complaints are never investigated, and those that are typically conclude with no action.

At least we can live healthy and avoid doctors by eating properly, exercising regularly, and staying away from bad habits? Yes and no. Firstly, some folx can’t avoid going to the doctor, such as if you have asthma, diabetes, cancer, or another permanent life-changing condition. For these folx, not seeing a doctor regualrly can be deadly. Secondly, if you had the privelige of being born healthy and staying that way, trying to live a healthy lifestyle can help, but it won’t do anything about the dirty air we breathe, nor will it remove the acid, plastic, and chemicals that are inevitably in our food, soil, and water. So kind of yes, mostly no.

To all the fellow spoonies who have to deal with this stuff on a regular basis, I feel ya, you’re not alone. This is my (Aya) actual doctor, I have eighty actuations left on my inhaler, we have no insurance, and no money, so I’m just hoping that asthma isn’t so bad when unmanaged (saying this knowing that people regularly die from inability to access a rescue inhaler 😅 ).

Luna is her own kind of flower.

Luna was just trying to walk down the sidewalk when a swarm of bees suddenly comes after her. Seeing the bright pink shirt Luna is wearing, the bees think she is a flower and naturally want to snack on her pollen. So they chase her. As Luna runs away, she screams “I am not a flower!” But Luna is indeed a flower. 🌸

Have you ever had a scary run-in with bees? What’s your strategy?

Luna’s just trying to help a customer find their way when suddenly… the linguistics police arrive. The customer starts guessing where Luna is “from” based on word choice: first “the 405” (California??), then “pop” (Midwest??). But here’s the thing: being autistic means sometimes we pick up words and phrases from people around us, TV, or just because they sound right. It doesn’t always mean anything about where we’re from, it just means we’re autistic. Instead of explaining, Luna does the sensible thing: pulls out an axe and tells them to run. Problem solved. 😅🪓

Do you have any words or phrases you use that everyone assumes mean you’re from somewhere else?

Luna wouldn’t survive in the wild.

Luna was just trying to get some pain relief with some Alka Fizz. They’re these little tablets that fizz up in water and they’re meant to reduce pain. But she keeps them right next to her rubbing alcohol wipes, which proved to be a problem in this comic.

Attention and focus are already hard for Luna. She has ADHD and chronic pain, both of which make mental tasks more difficult. Most of the time she does just fine on her own, but occasionally she makes mistakes, like putting an isopropyl wipe in her cup of water instead of Alka Fizz.

Good thing her partner caught her before she drank it… this time…

If you’re like Luna, make sure to pay extra special attention when dealing with medical products.

Yeaaa nope.

Love when people try to guess why we use mobility aids. It’s a fun little game where we get to either explain the sotuation and have them criticize us or we don’t explain and they criticize us anyways.

Luckily, Luna didn’t have to go through that. A sinple “no” with no other explanation went a long way for her.

The startegy here is to just answer as vaguely as possible and stare at them. Just stare. Stare like you’re waiting for the next guess, or like you’re waiting for them to follow up. It works like a charm.

Speaking up can be damaging.

Luna tried to say something. She knew what was happening to her was wrong. She sought help. But instead of care or assistance, she was met with gaslighting, disbelief, and criticism.

This is not a unique experience. It’s far too common. And after it happens so many times, people like Luna learn that it’s better to just live in silence, keep their head down, and just try to survive.

We, as a society, need to be better to folx who have had unjust experiences in their lives. And that starts with us, as individuals.

Sending love to all those out there who have had similar experiences. We see you, even if it feels like no one does.

Drop a ❤️ if you resonated with this post in any way.

Life is good when you find your people.

In this comic, Luna, her partner, and a couple friends are watching a movie. One scene comes up that garners a few different reactions; some are swooning, some aren’t feeling anything at all. And that’s the beauty of being in a queer-affirming space: no one has to explain themselves, feel broken, or be told that their experience is “too much” or “not enough.” You just get to be who you are, no questions asked.

A little crush. A big “meh.” A total lack of romantic or sexual interest. It’s all welcome, and it’s perfectly valid ❤️

This one is for our ace, aro, demi, and spectrum babes out there. You belong just as much as anyone else 🏳️‍🌈

It wasn’t an issue with the sound system.

This comic is about bullying. Not the outright, angry kind of bullying, but the little things here and there that drive you mad, then being gaslit about it. It’s things like your personal belongings frequently going missing or being vandalized, your work area getting trashed every time you look away, and yes, your playlist getting deleted. Then, when you try to address the issue, your told that it’s nothing and to just get over it.

Sure, it’s subtle, but it’s so damaging, especially when it’s happening everywhere you go. Over time, you turn into a person that is hyperaware, overly cautious, and hyperfixated on your own peace to the point where you don’t have any peace anymore.

If you’re going through this or have in the past, we see you. You’re not alone. You deserve a life where you feel valued and respected, not minimized and humiliated.

Drop a ❤️ to spread some love to people who are going through bullying.

To our followers: we will be posting a bit less than usual, as our financial situation has become quite precarious and we need to work more. But don’t worry, we’ll still try to post as much as we can. Our goal is to make art full-time one day, but until we get there it’s just going to be up and down. That’s life. What can we say? If you want to support our us, the best way is to join our Patreon. You’ll get to see new comics as they come out, exclusive content, and the option to get a few stickers twice a year. We appreciate every bit of support. You folx make our world go ‘round, and we’re so grateful to have this opportunity to share our art with you all. Thank you ❤️🥰

In a salon that claimed “haircuts for everyone,” four different stylists said no to cutting one man’s hair: a polite, hopeful black man.

He didn’t “seem aggressive,” or ask for a complicated style, he just asked for a haircut.

This comic is based on a real event from my time as a hair salon receptionist here in Washington. The experience never left me, especially because this state is supposed to be one of the most progressive states in the country.

People love to make excuses. They say “maybe she didn’t know how to cut textured hair.” But she did. And so did everyone else I asked. I would know cause it was my job to know. I WAS THE FLIPPIN’ RECEPTIONIST. I SCHEDULED ALL THE HAIRCUTS.

This Juneteenth, we’re remembering that racism doesn’t always come dressed in slurs or violence. Sometimes it’s passive denial of service, even sometimes with a smile.

We see it. We remember. And you better believe we speak on it.

Because black lives matter every day, not just when it’s convenient to say so 🖤✊🏽

For anyone wondering, yes I told the manager. No, they didn’t do anything about it or even investigate. They just made the same old excuses that are always made.
