Bah. Tried, and failed, to see the Nova in Lupus this evening. Skies were reasonably clear, but just a bit too bright. I was barely seeing past mag 7.5, with the 10x50 binoculars.

Ah well, maybe somebody else will spot it?

@cosmos4u
I have observed #TCrB around 30 nights during June&July each about 4 hours period with 22 second resolution. However, although there has been some possible findings of trends in my observations I have not actually analyzed those.
There are many research papers of these Cataclysmic Variables (CVs) published, and seems that in #TCrB there are brightness flickering even inside 1 minute. I have reported my observations to #AAVSO database, which researchers are using actively.
Doing useful science with the ZWO #Seestar S50 is easy. Currently at ~ 10mag (V), the recurring #nova #T_CrB is a good target for doing #photometry with small aperture instruments like the S50. Highlighted below is a dataset I did from this week: each data point is the average of measurements for 10 x 10sec exposures, green channel only, == > 0.01 mag standard deviation ( shown in #AAVSO Light Curve Generator ) Be the first to see T CrB go nova for the first time in almost 80 years!

Spectra produced with own data at the #AAVSO.

@thomasconnor Does that star have a name? Can it be seen with midrange amateur equipment, like 5-8" telescopes? What is its period? Might make for a fun #AmateurAstronomy project. #AAVSO
Excellent solar observing conditions today!

Just did my first #photometric #variablestar #observation #report to #AAVSO. A new chapter in my #citizenScience endeavour.
