Interesting thing at my university: the AAC&U statement (signed by over 150 #university presidents in the USA) is a powerful (well, as much as letters can be) response to the #GOP attacks on higher ed via international students.

SUNY's chancellor hasn't signed it, which doesn't really surprise me; our recent chancellors have been fairly #spineless political creatures. When the pressure is overwhelming and the risk seems low, the #SUNY chancellor will sign.

have to say, as an alumni, am disappointed on NYU, but not surprised. i’ve said for decades, NYU board turned way-the-fuck right, chasing OPEC mafia money to fully turn the university into an REI with a teaching side-hustle. last i checked almost all board members were in real estate.

as a former adjunct at & mom of alumni, it’s good to see CUNY, SUNY & Rutgers in that list

Leaders of elite private institutions that have been repeatedly targeted by #Trump were among the signers.
“We are open to constructive reform & do not oppose legitimate government oversight. However, we must oppose undue #GovernmentIntrusion in the lives of those who learn, live, & work on our campuses,” the letter, released by the American Assoc of #Colleges & #Universities, said.
