➤I've continued exploring and unlocked some teleporter rooms.
➤I got the Gaia armor and the snake transformation
➤I fought a very annoying boss that jumps around and throws bouncing axes. The room is very large and everything comes flying in from offscreen at a high speed. It was very tough to dodge if you weren't already where you needed to be.
➤Also there was no save point next to it. Had to do a short runback with each attempt.
➤I feel like most switches I hit just unlock a water column to swim upward.
➤Was money really needed in this game? Every upgrade needs its own 'currency' anyway. If I don't have enough I'll just have to grind which is not ideal.
➤I upgraded the Poseidon armor so now it's just stronger than all the others.
➤I'm only missing a couple of relics if the status screen is to be believed.
➤Despite increasing my health a few times, it still feels like two hits depletes the health bar.

➤Metroidvania time! I've heard this is a fairly short game, but a good one
➤Controls feel good and you have a good amount of reach on your attacks. Solid backdash to boot.
➤There's some elevators for getting around, but even with skipping the cutscene they are long
➤The health feels very low. There's a mechanic for regaining your health when you run out, so it seems to be more about finding a window to recover your health if you take too much damage. You heal by hugging a floating sentient teddy bear, so that's neat.
➤You do heal by striking enemies normally.
➤You can shoot the bear out to strike things, but it costs health. There was a few times my health ran out and I couldn't shoot.
➤Bosses have been on the easier side so far. I've noticed very rigid attack patterns. They still took me a few tries.
➤I've got the Zeus and Poseidon armor and the mermaid transformation.
➤Things are moving at a good pace. Upgraded my health a couple of times and I might have enough to upgrade an armor.

It took me way more tries than I'd like to admit and almost made me think about quitting the game but I was able to beat the boss in the Shadow of Hope.

That third phase was just a bit too hard for my terrible reaction times.  

Now I am back to exploring the map and having a good time! 🎵

I decided to start playing 9 Years of Shadows.

It is a pretty good metroidvania with some excellent soundtrack and art style.

But I am so bad at it!  

Oh, well. I am making progress even if I am having to die a lot in certain places before I figure out how to beat a boss or where I should go.

I sat down and beat 9 Years of Shadows last night! The final boss battle is all kinds of brutal, but after grinding my teeth and the boss for what felt like an eternity I can say that I did it!
