Italy is among Europe’s leading countries for blood and organ donation, but it is far behind when it comes to sperm or eggs: 99 percent of gametes are imported from abroad, despite rising demand. Professor Allegra (Cecos Italia): “Infertility is a taboo to be broken down, we need awareness campaigns and compensation for donors.”
