Nach Micron soll sich nun auch Samsung teilweise aus dem Endkundengeschäft für Speichermedien zurückziehen. Einem Leak zufolge steht das Aus für SATA-SSDs wie der 870 EVO bevor. Das hätte massive Folgen für die Preise aller Speicherarten.

After trying out #antix on an old HP Mini 210 Netbook, I dug out an old and dusty HP Pavilion Slimline previously used by my parents. It's a #32bit Intel Pentium E6500 @ 2.93GHz, 2GB DDR3 1066MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4350 with Windows 7. I did a backup of their personal files and unplugged the HDD. I installed the Samsung #870Evo SSD and decided to install #DebianBookworm #debian12. It went successfully! I just used the i386 CD iso image from the Debian site on the #Ventoy drive. #learninglinux

AntiX Linux running well now on my HP Mini 210-1100 now with the 500GB Samsung 870 EVO SSD!

If you had to choose one to use as a personal music streamer, which would you choose? I'm leaning towards #Navidrome because there seems to be more options on Android that works with #subsonic. I think I'll try #LogitechMediaServer when I get a #raspberrypi.

Are new #Samsung 870 EVO SSDs still failing even with the newest firmware, or was it just the batches from 2021 and some from 2022? Tried to do research and haven't seen any recent results for certain that weren't two months old or more.

New gear day! Bought two USB flash drives for backup and bootable drives and a new 2.5" Samsung 870 EVO 500GB (finally) for the HP Mini 210-1100! The current drive is failing, fsck couldn't fix it and #antixlinux failed to boot. Can't wait to install it again. And if, for whatever reason, the HP Mini doesn't fulfill my requirements, I believe the drive will also work for my 2007 Macbook Pro which could be fun! #oldtech #870Evo #ssd #hpmini210 #flashdrives #DataTraveler #sandisk #samsung
