Let me preface this by saying I personally don't agree with what Dead Kennedys are doing now, going around, yknow, the corpo cocksucking etc (only because they always claimed to be against that?) - NOT that Jello is a saint or anything. But I loved them as a kid, those records were HUGE to me and still are, when I hear em.

As a young teen, my friends and I would share and trade albums around, show each other bands. Pretty sure I heard Bedtime for Democracy and Plastic Surgery Disasters from my best friend when I was 13 or 14 in 1993 or 1994. 'Where Do Ya Draw the Line' popped in my head the other day (as it often does) so I had to throw this on today.

Bedtime for Democracy will always be my favorite DK record. It came out in 1986, I got hooked on it in the mid 90s, and I've listened to it countless times since. The ideas on it are still fresh, scathing and relevant today in 2024, which is fairly disheartening -- we've had SOME progress since 1986, but not nearly enough.

Today (October 24) in 1989, one of the greatest records of all time was released. Today is the 35th anniversary of '11' by the Smithereens. Containing one of their biggest hits (A Girl Like You), I've listened to this countless times. I re-bought a CD copy once. I have it on vinyl. It's beyond fantastic. They're my favorite band for a reason. Records like this! 🔥
