I first heard this as an 18 year old attending broadcast school in Minneapolis in 1983 and picked up a copy of the album at a record store (remember those?) downtown one day. I’d play this track at my first radio job in Nebraska in ‘84 and it ended being one of the more requested tunes during my time there. The guitar work is actually pretty good.

Among the tunes heard on deck this evening: wayyyyy back in 1980, three years before “Cuts Like A Knife” put him on the music map and five years before “Reckless” really broke things out for the guy, Bryan Adams released his first album. Yeah, there’s cheesy ballad crap on there but there’s also this catchy number.

Too nice a night to stop the jams here on deck: “The One Thing” was the hit off of “Shabooh Shoobah” - hell, it put them on the “music map” in the States - but again, there were other tunes off that album I’d play in my younger years as a professional radio pronouncticator (a word New York City DJ Scott Shannon pulled out of his ass). And these guys were actually a pretty good band.
