Since it's now up on the website, I can say that I will be teaming up with the inimitable @ArkadyMartine Arkady Martine teaching the #4thStreetFantasy Convention's seminar this year. Our session is called "Crafting Mechanisms of Plot, Seeking Mechanisms of Inspiration," and we'll be talking about plotting fiction. For more about 4th Street: https://4thstreetfantasy.com/

Sitting in on a talk/interview with Lois McMaster Bujold at #4thStreetFantasy and have suddenly realized I appearently skipped several of the middle books in the Vorkosigan Series need to check the bookcases when I get home.

One day and a wake-up until Michelle & I head west for #4thStreetFantasy in Minneapolis. Will we see you there?
Belatedly and delightedly watching the British Library's panel for the exhibit "Journeys to the Land of Faerie"; and in the midst of a much more important set of remarks, Ellen Kushner uttered the classic phrase from Fourth Street, "But that's a different panel."

@rdonoghue the last panel of #4thstreetfantasy two weekends back was about maps, and my friend @Clundoff lobbied successfully to get me on the panel, because boy do I have opinions and knowledge about maps :)

Well, #4thStreetFantasy has wrapped up for another year, and at least from where I was sitting, it sure seems to have gone smoothly. I'm sure there were bumps, because conventions always have some, but none cascaded into any big/visible problems. It was a very good time.

And now everyone is wandering around in cheerful conversation, stuffing leftover snacks from the con suite into their various bags, while I try to /stop/ thinking about transcription again. Aheh.

#4thStreetFantasy Quick, someone mention Rosemary Kirstein, whose Steerswoman series is about maps and mapmakers, how knowledge is preserved and the politics thereof!
