No better way to spend my second Easter day than testing new beta versions of three SDF modeling tools… πŸ˜πŸ‘

1. The next version of @sascharode1986's free SDF Modeler will have a text primitive, and you will be able to choose any True Type font, including glyph / wingdings fonts, adding quite some possible extruded 2D shapes to your SDF modeling arsenal. πŸ‘

#3DModeling

The main task set being perfecting the designs of mostly large (4ft long by 2 ft wide & bigger) wood furniture pieces.

A main design parameter set being strength, for both weight carrying & nonflexing ability, so I'll likely be fidgeting with the thicknesses of the boards a great deal within this.

I don't really need this program to automatically generate cut lists for me, but I do need it to give me at least a reasonably fast way to get a cubic footage of the material needed & similarly to know the exterior dimensions so it'll actually fit... (especially important for the pool which isnt likely to be a very simple shape).

First to check on video tutorials-- as I already have on draw which makes me doubt it's capable of this. CAD & SCAD I've now checked some & both definitely seem capable of doing this but so far CAD seems easier to do it with.

Second to check on written instructions on them
--- again I've read draw - hence my doubts, even as for my later set of projects- origami crease patterns & clothing making- it might work well. Reading on both again, they both seem capable but CAD just seems like it'll be easier.

Third to actually get the program(s) & see how they may or may not work for this.
