3D Gaussian Splats, point clouds, dinosaurs, mummies, portals… A real-time flythrough of the beautiful Redpath Museum, captured using the PortalCam from XGRIDS. It’s been about two weeks since we received the PortalCam at Dpt., and my obsession with volumetric capture is back in full force (well, it never really left). I would have loved to do more captures already, but that’s just a matter of time. I’m re-immersing myself in a SLAM-based capture workflow; learning how to best handle the device, its different modes, and how it behaves across very different scales, from large architectural spaces down to finer details.
