When it comes to #ProjectManagement software, #Trello, #Asana, #Jira and #Notion are all proprietary, and #Wekan as a #FOSS option has had untapped potential since forever. So it's nice to see that #Basecamp's developers released #Fizzy's source code on GitHub. I'm just hesitant to call it #OpenSource because the license seems... hmm. What is considered 'directly competing with #37signals'? If I selfhost it free of charge for a NGO that might have paid for it?

A refreshing take on cards, columns, and kanban.

Fizzy
Kinda want to try #fizzy (I'm still/always open for a good Kanban solution for personal projects)... But it's from #37signals and therefore tied to #DHH...

Did 37Signals Just Accidentally Make Writebook Open Source?

When 37Signals launched Writebook in 2024, it was under their ONCE License Agreement. Notably, that license "does not include the rights to publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software, source code or products derived from it." […]

Episode 539 - Cool Things in Fizzy | Drifting Ruby

In this episode, we look deploying Fizzy to a server and look at some of the notable practices found in the code.

Drifting Ruby

Just learned that #37signals launched a new service: Fizzy, a fresh take on kanban boards. Looks interesting, and it’s open source with a license that lets you self-host.

#37signals launched a new service called #fizzy. Think kanban without being slow. 😎

It's kind of neat. And you can self host easily enough. With it being source available. I would've liked #AGPL usage here, but at least they provided something. 😅

Kanban as it should be. Not as it has been.

The big blowup this week over #DavidHeinemeierHansson #DHH and his company #37Signals doing a hostile takeover of the open-source #RubyOnRails is a good reminder that the company's founders have been going crazier and crazier over the last several years. Here, tech columnist Jake Lazaroff looks at a recent DHH blog post which is openly and unapologetically white supremacist, complaining about how non-whites are "raping" Great Britain and causing the country's downfall.

DHH's politics are not normal. Maybe they used to be, I don't know, but as of right now the dude is way outside of what most people would consider moral or acceptable.

DHH: Future of Programming, AI, Ruby on Rails, Productivity & Parenting

Whether you like DHH (David Heinemeier Hansson) or not, he has gone full Nazi.

If you don't believe it, just read his latest blog post (in which he reminisces about a London that didn't have today's number of immigrants and is hardly white anymore—ironic to read that from a Dane who immigrated to the USA, but he's white, of course—and sympathizes with the British neo-nazi scene, even glorifies the British nazis and some asshole who literally called for punching trans women "in the balls" if they enter the ladies' bathroom, but disagrees with the saying "punch a nazi" as he laments that words all too quickly become actions).

Or his blog post from one day before, where he downplayed and defended Charlie Kirk who thought that black people are inferior to white people, among many other vile disgusting things, and whose vocation literally was to go on college campuses and indoctrinate young people with hate.

Or …

I hope you see the pattern.
