I have a few different problems around storytelling (I s2fg I just need to start a blog)

#1 is that I've been sitting stuck in the first 20k words of this story draft for like 2 years. I've rewritten it 3 times at this point and I still can't get it to flow exactly how I want to. I've been stuck here and it's on my mind constantly but I just can't get it out. I'm scared of letting go and writing something else because I love the story and the characters and I don't wanna lose the versions of them that only exist in my head at the moment.

#2 is that for some of my ideas, writing isn't the best medium. Gay Whiplash doesn't really make sense as a book: a story about the pursuit of jazz with no jazz is just kinda hollow. I bet there's a way I could do it by moving the focus away from the actual jazz and focusing on the emotions and character building

#2a is that my next best idea is gay whiplash and its SUPER problematic. Like I love problematic relationships in my media but there's a limit! The abusive male band director trying to melt college kids down and forge them into something great is like the perfect media exaggeration of the moody band director every jazz musician experienced at least once in school. The female version that achieves the same thing through manipulation and then fucks one of her students? SHEESH. Maybe if I could make the student a little older as a graduate / TA but you're not really doing big band stuff as your primary responsibility after you finish your undergrad... Like a 25 year old with a 40ish year old is ok for media but 18-22? That's a bit rough. And it doesn't really work without the college framework because regular bands don't have the same kind of power structure that I want in the first place.

#3 is that I really do want to make a game, it's just that my storytelling brain and my technical brain find completely different things fun. My story telling brain wants to load up unity or RPG maker and get all the technical stuff out of the way but my technical brain wants to build something mostly from scratch without an editor like godot or etc.
#2A #GVP Yesterday, the Seventh Circuit finally joined ALL the other federal circuit courts in rejected a Second Amendment facial challenge to the federal felon-in-possession law, 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1). United States v. Prince, 2026 WL 905432. They left open the possibility of as-applied challenges

Second Amendment supporters love to shout "shall not be infringed!" as if this is the end-all and be-all.

So why are there no rallies supporting an 18-yr-old adult's right carry wherever he wants? If you say, "Well, ok - not in schools" then you do accept some level of infringement after all.

Where's the line?

@Jumpmed @ramsey @newsguyusa @paul they never should ne, just like a car manufacturer isn't made liable for the abuse of their product or a nation is made liable for the actions of a single tourist.

  • Because otherwise one would make it basically illegal to do anything as any action one did would've made one indefinitely liable towards anyone.
    • I mean, I don't get to sue #Trump for the #FuelPrice|s caused by his #CrimeOfAggression either, or get to claim #2A rights outside #US juristiction…
    • Or any restaurant selling food would be made liable for any #customers' allergies if someone ordered food from them to be sent to another person.

Please #TouchGrass and realize that the problem are people and modalities, not the inanimate Objects they utilize!

@[email protected] Yeah. 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)(A). Upon receipt of a complaint takedown notice, a service provider must respond expeditiously to remove, or disable access to, the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of the infringing activity. If a service provider fails to do so, it may lose its safe harbor protection and be subject to an infringement suit. It's also worth noting, unless a website registers a DMCA agent with the copyright office, one really isn't protected as people can claim they sent takedowns. https://www.copyright.gov/dmca-directory/ @[email protected] @[email protected]

This is heart-wrenching and important. And kind of personal (my bride grew up 2 blocks south of Annunciation, went to school & mass there; I’ve attended some services and weddings there some decades ago).

This is what we’re up against.

Don’t carry a gun you won’t use. And use the gun you carry.

Honey, if I had any I would, but until you have #2A protections they'll just crack down with Scotland Yard every time you're getting anywhere. They don't respect you enough to really change.

More and more I see the generations splitting along "maximize rights for everyone in every way" vs. "rules restricting everyone except me." The young left is pro-gun, because #2A rights are still rights. The young right wants to use big government to micromanage who gets rights because they want social homogeneity. This is a sousveillance-fueled party rearrangement, and the older generation can't even see it happening.
