Took a lot more finagling than we expected but now it's in
Next time we work on it the expectation is to start the new engine
Again the new engine has 45k miles on it so we're calling this one "Minty"
So a good problem to have is your race car's engine's being cheaper to buy than engine parts + machine work for an existing engine

Car ran most of the day Saturday, I inherited a car with a death rattle when turning right and team order was to just drive it and that resulted in a broken axle
Downtime for the repair was under an hour but that dropped us of contention for the race win we were gunning for

yesterday I drove my questionable #miata 170 miles to Gingerman Raceway, drove the piss out of it, and then drove it home like nothing happened, what a good car
And that's a wrap for my Miata this season, however I have my plane tickets booked for #24hoursoflemons Sonoma in December so not the end of my season for motorsports this year so if you're there come by and say hi!
Coda: I got the MG for the last hour. Ted described is as being like driving a Jeep...and that felt pretty accurate. There was lots of body roll and bouncing. Which adds up to inconsistent traction. Between the shock and the overheating issues, I just put it in 4th and did what I could. I was still able to pass some cars out there. Including the Aerostar. It's always fun to take the checker.

We don't have a spare, and the problem looks like it's with the mount...so...yank it and send it. The MG is out on the track with three shocks. It is solid rear axle, so it's like being down just one kidney, right?
