21 Jump Street 1x06 "The Worst Night of Your Life" shout by RikerDonegal

Written by series co-creator Patrick Hasburgh, this is very much an average episode. Hoffs is undercover in the a-story, looking for an arsonist at a Catholic girls school. The comedic b-story sends Hanson and Penhall out on the town looking for dates and behaving very much like Starsky and Hutch. In the end, (the Starsky-esque) Penhall is robbed by a woman he picks up. Some of Penhall’s antics are amusing; some are not. There’s nothing particularly noteworthy about this instalment, but I was enjoying it and was genuinely surprised when I realised it was nearly over. _Spring 1987: Fox aired 21 Jump Street in the first hour of Sunday prime time before Married with Children. Against it, CBS had 60 Minutes, and NBC had Our House, while ABC aired The Disney Sunday Movie._ 6/10

**Josh Brolin, John D'Aquino.** Best episode since the pilot movie. Written by Bill Nuss, it’s a smart story well told. The villains are smug and arrogant, events unfold in unexpected fashion, and the downbeat ending is inconclusive. Geoffrey Blake. Hanson is undercover; there’s a mutual attraction between him and his new English teacher. Of course, he can’t tell her he’s a cop. This is a really strong hook. Probably the best thing about the episode. Blake’s character is suspect number one. He’s messed up, but we like this complex kid. The character is well written and well played. It’s kinda obvious from the get-go who the real bad guy will turn out to be. But the other aspects of the episode are really, really strong so it’s still a winner in my book. _First of 8 episodes written for the show by Clifton Campbell (Crime Story, Wiseguy, seaQuest, Profiler).
