Il reboot di “Buffy l’ammazzavampiri” non ci sarĂ . Lo ha rivelato Sarah Michelle Gellar su Instagram. “Sono davvero triste di doverlo dire, ma volevo che lo sapeste da me. Purtroppo, Hulu ha deciso di non procedere con ‘Buffy: New Sunnydale’“, ha dichiarato in un video pubblicato sabato. “Voglio ringraziare ChloĂ© Zhao, perchĂ© non avrei mai pensato di ritrovarmi di nuovo nei panni di Buffy, con i suoi stivali eleganti ma accessibili. E grazie a ChloĂ©, mi sono ricordata quanto la amo e quanto sia importante non solo per me, ma per tutti voi. E questo non cambia nulla, e vi prometto che se dovesse arrivare davvero l’apocalisse, potete sempre contattarmi“.
“La porta ù ancora aperta”
Il sequel di “Buffy” era stato annunciato per la prima volta nel febbraio 2025 come episodio pilota ordinato da Hulu. Il regista di “Hamnet”, Zhao, avrebbe dovuto dirigere e produrre esecutivamente la nuova serie, creata da 20th Television e Searchlight Television.
Il progetto, intitolato “Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale”, avrebbe visto Ryan Kiera Armstrong nei panni della nuova cacciatrice, con la star della serie originale Gellar che avrebbe ripreso il ruolo di Buffy in un ruolo ricorrente. Una fonte vicina alla produzione ha indicato – come riporta Variety – che, nonostante il reboot non sia andato in porto, c’ù “molto affetto” per Buffy e la piattaforma di streaming prenderà comunque in considerazione future iterazioni del franchise: “In sostanza, la porta ù ancora aperta”.

The reboot of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” will not happen. Sarah Michelle Gellar revealed it on Instagram. “I’m truly sad to have to say it, but I wanted you to hear it from me. Unfortunately, Hulu has decided not to move forward with ‘Buffy: New Sunnydale’,” she said in a video posted on Saturday. “I want to thank ChloĂ© Zhao, because I never would have thought of finding myself again in the role of Buffy, with her elegant but accessible heels. And thank you to ChloĂ©, I remembered how much I love her and how important she is, not just for me, but for all of you. And this changes nothing, and I promise you that if the apocalypse were to really happen, you can always contact me.”

“The door is still open”
The sequel to “Buffy” had been announced for the first time in February 2025 as a pilot episode ordered by Hulu. The director of “Hamnet,” Zhao, was to direct and executive produce the new series, created by 20th Television and Searchlight Television.

The project, titled “Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale,” would have seen Ryan Kiera Armstrong in the role of the new slayer, with the original series star Gellar taking on the role of Buffy in a recurring role. A source close to the production indicated – as reported by Variety – that, despite the reboot not going ahead, there is “a lot of affection” for Buffy and the streaming platform will still consider future iterations of the franchise: “Essentially, the door is still open.”

Une bande-annonce pour relancer la machine

La plateforme Disney+ a dĂ©voilĂ© la bande-annonce officielle du revival de Scrubs, donnant le ton de ce retour attendu. La sĂ©rie sera lancĂ©e le 15 avril, avec la mise en ligne des deux premiers Ă©pisodes, avant une diffusion hebdomadaire. Ce choix stratĂ©gique vise Ă  installer progressivement l’intrigue tout en ravivant l’attachement du public Ă  un univers devenu culte.

Une bromance intacte face à un monde transformé

Au centre de cette relance, la relation entre J.D. et Turk occupe toujours une place cardinale. Les deux mĂ©decins se retrouvent pour opĂ©rer ensemble pour la premiĂšre fois depuis longtemps, dans un environnement profondĂ©ment transformĂ©. La mĂ©decine a Ă©voluĂ©, les pratiques hospitaliĂšres se sont modernisĂ©es et les internes ne ressemblent plus Ă  ceux d’autrefois.

Pourtant, la dynamique qui unit les deux amis semble avoir résisté au temps. Cette bromance, devenue emblématique de la série, sert de fil conducteur à une narration qui entend conjuguer nostalgie et renouveau.

Les trois acteurs principaux — Zach Braff, Donald Faison et Sarah Chalke — participent eux aussi Ă  la production exĂ©cutive, renforçant leur implication dans l’évolution narrative du projet.

Une équipe expérimentée et un format maßtrisé

Aseem Batra occupe la fonction de productrice exécutive et de showrunner, tandis que Randall Winston figure également parmi les producteurs exécutifs. La série est produite par 20th Television, entité intégrée à Disney Television Studios.

Chaque Ă©pisode adopte un format de 30 minutes, fidĂšle Ă  la structure qui avait permis Ă  la sĂ©rie originale d’alterner efficacement humour, introspection et rythme soutenu.
