It's that time of week again. This week's #MusicWomenWednesday is Lonnie Gunn, who was raised in New Jersey but now resides in London and releases her music via Jazz Life Records. I hadn't heard of her and I have to check out her back catalog, but new single "Lucky Girl" from this year is a catchy, fuzzed out alt rock style synthy rocker that reminds me of That Dog, Throwing Muses or Belly, maybe.

Discovered the massively talented Samara Cyn a couple days ago, perfect for #MusicWomenWednesday this week. Samara's strange, interesting delivery and lyrics make for some really wild shit. She has a great sense for melody, dynamics, and the production is killer. Her cool, odd, high-pitched vocal, kinda like a dirtier, rappier Macy Gray or something. "Bad Brain" came out last week, and this fucker is an EARWORM, man.

Yung Lean (Jonatan Aron Leandoer Håstad) is a Swedish (experimental) rapper and multi-instrumentalist who has a new one coming this year (and the single is a BANGER, I love the weird sing-songy nature, and it's a great video, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjYkr78anZs).
I've been going through Yung's back catalog today, as I'm fairly unfamiliar. Turns out, he's diagnosed bipolar (properly medicated now), fronts post-punk band Död Mark, and also releases indie rock/neofolk stuff as Jonatan Leandoer96.
The production on this stuff is wild. I wasn't too into his first mixtape, but even by his first LP in 2014, he's really making some amazing shit. But full album wise, I feel like he really starts hitting hard around 2020's LP 'Starz'. Psyched to hear his new one 'Jonatan' later this year in May.
