This is a thing Iโve done for a while on Facebook, and it seems to fit better here, so I should give the backstory.
I had a friend, Steve Davies aka Spartacus Mills, self-styled โBritainโs laziest #surrealistโ (there was stiff competition). We never met irl, but he was a scabrous, provocative, delightful and hilarious presence online.
Sparty would post a list of the books heโd read each year. This hadnโt occurred to me, but watching him do it made it looked kind of fun. Plus, there was always the interest in crossover in our reading, and thinking about books Iโd read he might like. So I started to keep a list one year, looking forward to sharing it with him.
And Sparty died. It was a terrible, stupid accident while he was out walking with his beloved dog, and even though we never met I still feel that ache of his absence. So I did a list that year, and decided to carry on doing it.
