Sir Ian Diamond has resigned as National Statistician - in charge of #ons . He had a mixed record in the job. He did well to get an infection survey undertaken during #COVID19 although unfortunately #didoharding ignored the results for #london - a neglect which increased mortality there. He also did a good job protecting the #2021census . Unfortunately he proved either unable or unwilling to prevent a search for 'efficiency savings' undermining the quality and reliability of many #ukstatistics!

*Commuting in #Canada* - a thread about #2021Census data!

TL;DR: a lot of people stopped commuting after the pandemic, and this hit different travel modes VERY differently. As of 2022 car commutes have surpassed 2016 levels, while #transit and #ActiveTravel are still well below.
