Negotiations over the COP31 presidency continue in Belém as Australia and Türkiye work toward agreement within the WEOG group. Pacific Island countries continue to push for climate talks that centre frontline communities. PICAN’s Dr Sindra Sharma stresses that the unresolved COP31 outcome does not change global responsibility to keep warming to 1.5°C and that final COP30 decisions will set the foundation for ambition and justice next year.

The 2015 #ParisAgreement is a landmark treaty that sets a legally binding framework to limit global warming to #1o5C in accordance with best available science & based on equity. All Parties must put forward their plan to slash emissions & align financial flows to #EndFossilFuels.

.@IRENA formuliert beim #betd2023 die Herausforderung für #1o5C glasklar: Ausbaugeschwindigkeit von #Erneuerbaren mehr als verdreifachen, bis 2030 jedes Jahr weltweit mindestens 1000GW zubauen. So ein Ziel sollte die #COP28 beschließen, die Bundesregierung sich dafür einsetzen!
