Well my Cadillac 390 engine has been at a builders for almost a week.
Bare minimum it needs piston rings and could benefit from a cylinder bore.

Tested the mechanical fuel pump's ability to hold vacuum.
If the rubber was bad or cracked it would not hold vacuum well.
This holds 10 psi for quite a while so I have to assume its good!
I am glad I tested the vacuum advance on my 60 Cadillac.
It was bad.
But then I remembered: this car came with another distributor which has an advance....and it works!
I also bent some 3/16 steel tubing to feed the vacuum
Its amazing what taking a break can do.
I spent 90 minutes trying to install this crossmember.
Its in an awkward place and ...its a tight fit.
Finally got the valley pan and valve covers back on. New gaskets too.
Anyone have ideas for testing whether a water pump leaks? Thought about just blocking one end and filling with water...
