coworker: task #1234 shouldn't take too long, just need to copy and paste a couple of functions from module B to module A

(for non-programmers: this is like cleaning a dirty room by putting all the dirt into a pile, duplicating the pile, and hiding both piles under different rugs.)

I've deleted a LOT of code over the past two days. 😃
