Aneko originally began the novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in October 2012. Kadokawa began printing the novel under its MF Books label with illustrations by Seira Minami in August 2013 and released the 22nd volume in June 2019. Kyu Aiya began serializing a manga adaptation in Monthly Comic Flapper in February 2014. Kadokawa published the 27th volume on February 21. One Peace Book licensed both the light novel and manga in English in March 2015. The 22nd light novel volume was released in December 2021, and the 23rd manga volume was released on January 7.
