OK, I’ve finished reading #恋と嘘 #KoiToUso #LoveAndLies #manga, and I have feelings about it.

First of all, without being spoilery, let me just say that, I would not have imagined myself saying this at the beginning of the manga, but I am, I think, #TeamLilina. (And yes, I finally realized it is “Lilina” not “Ririna”, given that she is half-German, or possibly full German but born and raised in Japan.)

That being said, I think both endings were weak, weaker than they could have been.

I will say, though, that rewatching #恋と嘘 was the first time I actually noticed the reference to Romeo & Juliet as #ロミジュリ (#romijuri), which I think is just so cute.

Romeo & Juliet does happen to be my favorite Shakespeare play, and I did use a quote from it from my high school yearbook, although I chose Hamlet for my auditions for theatre school. Twelfth Night is my second favorite. The “v” in my initials is for “Viola”.

One of the reasons why I’m rereading #恋と嘘 #LoveAndLies is because I stopped reading it before I found out what Nisaka’s deal is. I’m pretty sure Nisaka is either cis #gay or het #trans (and I feel like the setup is for the latter) and in love with Nejima, and Misaki knows. If I’m wrong then it’s the author’s fault for being misleading.

Either way, it ends up being the same #harem #manga #trope of hot guy/girl in love with milquetoast MC. So #cringe.
