the role of felix dueball (1880-1970) in popularizing the game of go outside east asia can hardly be overestimated. as a player and teacher in berlin from 1919, the strongest european player for decades, and highly respected in japan, he was a key figure in the history of go. 1/2
sung-hwa hong’s “Erster Kyu” (“First Kyu”) is a coming-of-age story set in the world of the game of go. it also employs a questionable narrator in order to deal with some uncomfortable aspects of korean culture.

放眼#围棋 史，最早的姐妹职业棋手是著名的“#本田三姐妹”#杉内寿子（1927-）、#本田幸子（1930-2020）、#楠光子（1939-）。其中本田幸子终生未婚，保留父姓，杉内寿子与楠光子均为婚后改名，楠光子最早的名字是本田辉子。三姐妹分别于1942年、1947年、1956年定段，纵横棋坛，荣誉无数。三姐妹合计夺冠24次，在女子比赛极度稀少的当年堪称奇迹。
不过本田三姐妹的时代，是#女子围棋 远未竞技化，仍是男性话语体系下“花瓶”式附庸角色的时代。她们之所以在五十岁上下的年纪迎来巅峰期，很大一个因素是子女都已长大，可以从照顾家庭、抚育后代的琐碎生活中暂时解脱出来。1986年第2届中日围棋擂台赛增设女先锋，楠光子完败给芮乃伟就是时代改变的标志性号角，中韩女子围棋从此飞速发展，竞技最高峰可与男棋手一掰手腕。
