Based on the first episode, Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu is my favourite anime this season so far, it's super creepy, big Summertime Rendering vibes.
The clips below are minor spoilers for episode 1, but don't give away anything. Except the third one which takes place near the end. It's best watched blind either way.

The Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu (The Summer Hikaru Died) New Information Release Special Stage at AnimeJapan 2025 revealed additional cast, staff, ending theme, and a promotional video on Saturday. The anime is scheduled to premiere in July 2025 and will be released worldwide on Netflix. Mokumokuren originally posted the manga on their X (formerly Twitter) account before beginning serialization on the Young Ace UP website in August 2021. Kadokawa published the sixth volume on December 4. Mio Nukaga began penning a light novel adaptation under the Kadokawa Shoten label in December 2023. Yen Press licensed the manga in English in September 2022 and released the fifth volume on March 18. The company also licensed the light novel adaptation in English this October.
