Even by the measure this Court loves the most —the absurd “history and tradition” doctrine — the decision in Mullin v Al Otro Lado makes no sense at all.

America’s “history and tradition” had been to enable those persecuted elsewhere to find shelter and a new home here. We even have a really big statue in NY harbor underscoring that point.

THAT is what we mean by “the American dream”. We are here because your ancestors and mine found refuge on our shores and, through hard work, made their lives and ours better than could ever have been the case where they came from.

THAT, honorable justices, is our “history and tradition”. This xenophobic and misguided decision sends the country in a new and horrifying direction.

I weep for the dream of America that died this week.

The #Iran #MOU isn't a "peace agreement"; it's a temporary cease-fire, one that leaves Iran in control of the Straits of Hormuz, releases billions of dollars they can use to fund terrorists in #Israel, #Lebanon, and around the world, and offers the US nothing—NOTHING—that we didn't have already.

What a fucking joke. The greatest, most fearsome military in the history of mankind couldn't defeat a country run by backwards religious zealots, thugs, and terrorists. Not because we're incapable, but because our "leadership" (and I use the word lightly, even ironically) is so corrupt and incompetent that in only 18 months they have turned the United States of America into a punchline.

I hope this country can survive 2.5 more years of this, and I hope that it won't take generations to fix the damage being done by this administration. But I am not optimistic about either.
