I just think...

Uber doesn't have cars
Airbnb doesn't have houses
Netflix doesn't have cinemas
Amazon doesn't have any stores
Spotify does not own the rights to the music

The intermediaries are always the ones who profit the most.

yahoo news | Uber and Lucid Reveal Advanced Six-Seater Robotaxi; 100,000 Units to be Launched...

Luxury electric‑vehicle maker Lucid has teamed up with Uber to create a six‑seat robotaxi built on Lucid’s upcoming Gravity SUV platform. Unveiled recently, the autonomous vehicle is slated for a nationwide rollout of 100,000 units across the United States in early 2027, with limited service in San Francisco expected to begin later in 2026 once regulatory approval is secured. Uber hopes the larger six‑passenger capacity will give it an edge over Waymo’s four‑seat Jaguar I‑Pace offering.

The robotaxi incorporates a suite of sensors—including cameras, radar, lidar and ultrasonic units—whose data are processed by Nvidia’s computing chips and Nuro’s autonomous‑driving software. The exterior retains the Gravity’s design but is outfitted with the additional hardware required for self‑driving, while the cabin has been reconfigured for an Uber experience, featuring passenger‑facing screens that display sensor information and control various interior functions. Testing of the vehicle has already been underway in the Bay Area since the end of last year.

Uber’s entry into the San Francisco market will break Waymo’s current monopoly, introducing competition that could spur better service quality and lower fares in the autonomous‑mobility sector. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi emphasized the company’s intent to challenge Waymo’s dominance, stating that the robotaxi launch will bring “more choice and competition for riders.” As both firms vie for market share, users stand to benefit from improved technology and pricing pressure.
