BERGAMO (ITALPRESS) – Una partita senza nulla da perdere, con la pressione tutta sull'Italia. Il commissario tecnico dell'Irlanda del Nord Michael O'Neill non ci gira troppo intorno nella conferenza stampa alla vigilia della sfida di Bergamo contro gli azzurri, semifinale dei playoff mondiali: “Credo fortemente in questo gruppo di giocatori, sarà una squadra molto giovane, quando sei molto giovane c'è l'assenza di paura, abbiamo tutto da guadagnare, non c'è alcun dubbio. Hanno già fatto delle partite importanti, le hanno gestito molto bene, sono cresciuti molto negli ultimi due anni, sarà un banco di prova molto importante per noi. Ci sarà una grande atmosfera, l'Italia deve gestire la propria storia, il proprio blasone, noi abbiamo tanto rispetto. Dobbiamo cercare di renderle la partita difficile, per far sì che questo diventi un fattore mentale”. L'aspetto psicologico sarà dunque fondamentale: “C'è tanta aspettativa su di loro, è una grande nazione, ma non dobbiamo pensare alla posta in palio, non dobbiamo essere intimoriti. La pressione di essere ct dell'Italia rispetto ad essere quello dell'Irlanda del Nord è totalmente diversa, provo tanta stima per Gattuso, ha scelto un incarico non semplice, ha ottenuto buoni risultati. Provo tanta stima per lui come giocatore e come allenatore. Per quanto riguarda noi, abbiamo già battuto delle squadre della prima fascia”. In conferenza è intervenuto anche Trai Hume: “Mi aspetto una partita molto difficile, niente di diverso, ma la faremo senza paura, siamo cresciuti molto. Visto quello che abbiamo fatto negli ultimi anni abbiamo dimostrato di sapere giocare contro squadre più blasonate. E' vero, ho già affrontato una finale playoff in Championship, ho sentito la pressione, poi giocare in Premier League ti cambia la vita, di sicuro fai tesoro di queste esperienze.
